Throwback Thursday: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Hey everyone how are you all doing today? I hope everyone has been having an awesome week. Today’s Thursday and it’s time for a Throwback Thursday! This concept was brought to you by Renee at it’s booktalk. And this week my Throwback Thursday is:

Red Queen

Summary: Red Queen, by #1 New York Times bestselling author Victoria Aveyard, is a sweeping tale of power, intrigue, and betrayal, perfect for fans of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.

Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood—those with common, Red blood serve the Silver-blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.

To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard—a growing Red rebellion—even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction.

One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.

So this was a book I read about two or three years ago. It was an interesting book and one that I read when I was in a book slump. I had just finished A Court of Mist and Fury and needed something to fill the void. It held my attention to a certain extent and I really enjoyed reading the book but I wouldn’t say it’s one of my favorites. I still recommend everyone to read it though the plot was great even if the characters at time can be a bit annoying.

I hope you enjoyed this Throwback Thursday everyone. For more of my content check out my blog and if you want notifications on when I make a blog post hit that follow button and have an awesome day!

TBR Thursday: A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

Hey everyone how are you all doing today? I hope everyone has been having a great week so far but it’s now Thursday and time for a To Be Read Thursday. This concept was brought to you by Kimberley Faye Reads and this week on my TBR list it’s:

A Court of Frost and Starlight

Summary: Narrated by Feyre and Rhysand, this bridges the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin and the upcoming novels in the series.

Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated–scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.

So I love The A Court of Thorns and Rose’s Series, and I’m excited to read this novella. I loved Feyre’s strength and determination and while the battles were cool it will be nice to read about how Feyre is adjusting and enjoying the peace of her court. I know alot of people were disappointed with this book, but knowing what this book will entail as well as reading other readers’ reviews I think I will enjoy the book. I love Feyre and Rhysand so honestly any books that has anything to do with their story I’m pretty sure I’ll absolutely love.

Well that’s it for today’s TBR Thursday I hope everyone enjoyed this post. If you did and want notifications of when I’ll post again hit that follow button and have an awesome day

Love Found

My stomach flips when our eyes meet

A smile spreads across your lips and my heart plunges to the deep parts of my soul

I am happy to see those haunting hazel eyes

The ones I dream about when I drift onto sleep

And when we meet the worlds in sync and all I see is you

I’ve never had this feeling before I get shakes I’ve never had before

When I’m near you I get dizzy and starry eyed and I want you to be happy when you’re with me

It’s amazing the heat I feel inside as my hearts never beat so fast

Thinking of him and how happy I want him to be

And as we sit and talk about the future like we have a clue I find that I’m slowly falling in love with you

It’s a scary thought to take the plunge and simply let things be but what else can I do

I just hope I mean as much to you

Women Crush Wednesday: Glain from The Great Library series by Rachel Caine

Hey guys how is everyone doing today, it’s another wonderful Wednesday. I hope you have all been having a great week so far! But because today is Wednesday you know it’s time for another fun Women Crush Wednesday. And this week my Women Crush Wednesday is:

Glain

Now Glain in the first book was kind of an enigma to me, but as the series progressed I started to understand her more and more. She’s a very duty bound serious female character with an amazing intellect and fierce sense of loyalty to justice. She’s a very intelligent battle strategist who has helped many of her friends avoid ending up dead in the war that they are forced to fight in. Not always the warmest character and naturally distrusting other characters but she has a very blunt way about her that really holds the group together. She always tries to find a noble way to defeat her enemies but the more trouble her and the other characters get into the harder the line between right and wrong becomes to see. And it was really interesting to see how Glain dealt with everything constantly clashing with everything she was taught to believe was the truth.

That’s why I chose Glain as my Women Crush this Wednesday. If you enjoyed this post and want notifications on when I post hit that follow button, and I hope you have an awesome day!

Dragon Ball Super Tour Locations and Movie info!

Hey guys bookishnerdygirl here with some more awesome Dragon Ball news! I got my hands on some comic book articles that gives some awesome info on more upcoming Dragon Ball tour locations as well as a better look into what the new Dragon Ball movie will be about.

According to the tour’s new calendar, the Dragon Ball event will hit up a slew of conventions between July and October. You can check out the current listing below, but fans should note the list is not complete. Toei Animation has one more stop on its calendar that has yet to be announced.

Comic Con International in San Diego from July 18-22

Otakon in Washington, D.C. from August 10-12

Fan Expo Canada in Toronto from August 30-September 2

Rose City Comic Con in Portland from September 7-9

New York Comic Con in New York from October 4-7

Dallas Fan Days in Dallas from October 19-21

So one thing about this new movie that has the fans asking questions is when is this movie going to take place. Well according to creator Akira Toriyama, the arc presented in the Dragon Ball Super film is meant to follow the ‘Universal Survival’ arc that the show housed. In an official statement, the artist explained the new story will dive into the history of the Saiyans and the race’s ties with Freeza.

“The Dragon Ball Super movie this time will be the next story in the series currently airing on TV,” Toriyama wrote, confirming the movie’s placement (via Kanzenshuu).

“It will be an episode after catching our breath from the climax of the Tournament of Power with the universe’s existence on the line; with content that will give a little better understanding about Freeza and the Saiyans, which I hadn’t properly depicted up till now; and leading to a mighty foe saved for the occasion, which I think has it shaping.

Well that’s all the news I could find for now I’ll keep you all posted as soon as I find out anymore info. If you want notifications of when I post again hit that follow button and have a great day everyone!

Top 10 Tuesday: Bookish Worlds I’d Want to/Never Want to Live In

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope everyone has been having a great weekend so far! Today is Tuesday and it’s time for another awesome Top 10 Tuesday brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl and created by The Broke and the Bookish this Top 10 Tuesday is:

Bookish Worlds I’d Want to/Never Want to Live In

Fiore from Fairy Tail by Hiro Mashima

So I love Fairy Tail, there’s always some threat in this world filled mythical being and magic. I’d love to live in this world because of Fairy Tail and all the different types of magic there is.

Erilea from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

So I love Throne of Glass and all the different types of people and magic but I would never want to live here. Between evil demons, overly controlling dictatorship, and evil fae queens you could be dead in minutes.

First World from A Walker Saga by Jaymin Eve

I would totally love to live in First World! Not only are the people really cool and nice but there’s all kinds of different foods, and no such thing as money. People trade favors for favors to get food or clothes or anything else they need.

Mount Olympus from The Olympian Challenger

So it would be totally awesome to meet the Gods and Godesses of Mount Olympus, but if they are like they’re stories I would never want to live there. They have no consideration for anyone but themselves, and they could care less for humanity.

Middle Earth Lord of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

So while I think Middle Earth is cool, but I wouldn’t want to live in this world. Not only is it dangerous and seriously battle ridden but it’s also kind of dirty. Like you figure there’s no plumbing which means everyone is smelly and dirty because there’s not any real soap, women can’t shave, and people can’t shower. Not to mention being a women in Middle Earth would totally suck.

So that’s it for this top 10 Tuesday what are some worlds you’d like to visit?

What are some bookish worlds you wouldn’t want to visit? If you enjoyed this post and want to be notified of when I post again hit that follow button and have a great day!

Book Review: A Chosen Life meets The Mortal Instruments in Touched by Grace by Alicia Rades

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend, but it is now Monday and time for another awesome non spoilery book review. This week I’ll be reviewing:

Touched by Grace

Summary: After a lifetime of searching for where she belongs, Ryn knows it’s in Eagle Valley… but war threatens to take that all away. Attending an angels-only high school should help her master her magical abilities, but stopping the upcoming battle is more important.

Ryn trains in secret with the help of her mentor, Marek, a bad boy who can’t decide between duty and love—and who’s already stolen Ryn’s heart. But the arrival of another Davina complicates things, and Ryn finds herself torn between the two boys.

Above all, she needs to find Grace. The ancient Davina warrior is Eagle Valley’s last hope.

The demons will do anything to stop Ryn from reaching Grace. Lives are on the line, and the future of the Davina—and the entire world—is at stake.

My review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book was absolutely amazing! Picking up right where the reader left off Ryn has now started school, and the stakes are now higher than they’ve ever been. Time is running out for Ryn and her friends and with darkness looming so close will Ryn be able to do what she needs to or will the pressure be too much?

So the plot of this book is absolutely exceptional. It’s definitely a young adult book that deals with more mature topics. The question of the series so far being what’s right and what’s wrong. Is killing really the way to save the world?

The characters are all young and can at some points be immature but with the threats they face and the possibility that they could lose everyone they care about I think they’re entitled to a freak out now and then. It in my opinion makes the characters feel more demensional afterall if anyone was realistically in there position they’d have at least 1 meltdown.

I also liked how much Ryn has progressed in this book not only as a character but her skillset. She’s still hesitant on the killing thing but she’s learned to fight and has really become a formidable threat. And the romance between Marek and Ryn is a great little break from all the gloom and doom of the unfolding plot.

I of course bring a major fan of fantasy and magic can’t get enough of those angel powers! I mean being able to shoot energy balls and fly how frigan awesome sauce is that? So all in all this book was amazing and whoever is reading my review should definitely check it out!

That’s all for this review everyone I hope you enjoyed it. If you did enjoy and want notifications for the next time I post hit that follow button and have an awesome day!

Music Monday: Too Good at Goodbye’s by Sam Smith

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope you all had an awesome weekend, but it’s Monday and time for another awesome Music Monday. This is brought to you by The Tattooed Book Geek This week my Music Monday is:

Too Good at Goodbyes

You must think that I’m stupid

You must think that I’m a fool

You must think that I’m new to this

But I have seen this all before

I’m never gonna let you close to me

Even though you mean the most to me

‘Cause every time I open up, it hurts

So I’m never gonna get too close to you

Even when I mean the most to you

In case you go and leave me in the dirt But every time you hurt me, the less that I cry

And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry

And every time you walk out, the less I love you

Baby, we don’t stand a chance, it’s sad but it’s true

I’m way too good at goodbyes

(I’m way too good at goodbyes)

I’m way too good at goodbyes

(I’m way too good at goodbyes)

I know you’re thinking I’m heartless

I know you’re thinking I’m cold

I’m just protecting my innocence

I’m just protecting my soul

I’m never gonna let you close to me

Even though you mean the most to me

‘Cause every time I open up, it hurts So I’m never gonna get too close to you Even when I mean the most to you In case you go and leave me in the dirt But every time you hurt me, the less that I cry

And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry

And every time you walk out, the less I love you
Baby, we don’t stand a chance, it’s sad but it’s true

I’m way to good at goodbyes
(I’m way to good at goodbyes)
I’m way too good at goodbyes
(I’m way too good at goodbyes)
No way that you’ll see me cry
(No way that you’ll see me cry)
I’m way too good at goodbyes
(I’m way too good at goodbyes) No
No, no, no, no, no (I’m way too good at goodbyes)

No, no, no, no
No, no, no (I’m way too good at goodbyes)
(No way that you’ll see me cry)
(I’m way too good at goodbyes) ‘Cause every time you hurt me, the less that I cry

And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry
And every time you walk out, the less I love you
Baby, we don’t stand a chance, it’s sad but it’s true
I’m way too good at goodbyes

Man Crush Monday: Shane Collins Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine

Hey everyone how are you all doing today? I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend but it is now Monday and time for another fun Man Crush Monday! And this week my Man Crush is:

Shane Collins

Shane Collins is a totally loyal, intelligent, sexy badass in The Morganville Vampire series. He’s had a hard life and has lost alot of people he loved giving him a tortured soul characterization to him. He’s very protective, strong, caring, independent, and an awesome guy. Of course he’s human so he’s in no way shape or form perfect as he has deep prejudices against vampires because of his past not to mention at times he can be a total hot head and a bit to controlling especially when he’s jealous. He’s a great guy and a very complex three dimensional character that has the capabilities of great good or great evil. He’s a very emotional kind of character using his emotions to make major life decisions, and can be a bit oversensitive at times and can feel easily betrayed. He’s really funny though and based on his description not too bad on the eyes but let his emotions run too high and he’s a complete mess.

That’s it for this Man Crush Monday. Come by next week to see who I chose as my Man Crush. And if you liked this post and want to be notified of future posts hit that follow button and have a great day!

Book Review: Lord of The Rings Two Towers meets 30 Days of Night in Wraith Lord of Zeiglon by Steve Stephenson and K.M. Tedrick

Hey everyone how are you all doing today? I hope you all had a lovely weekend. But today is Monday and time for a fantastic non spoiler book review! And the book I’m reviewing today is:

Wraith Lord of Zeiglon

Summary: In book two of the War of the Staffs trilogy, vampire lord Taza continues to weave intense dark spells in a demonic attempt to find the missing piece of the Staff of Adaman and bring the magical world of Muiria under his evil control. Taza uses a dark warlock named Melgor to find and destroy Taza’s nemesis, the great Wizard Celedant, who accompanies Prince Tarquin, the prophesied savior of the world, on a dangerous quest to find the missing Staff piece, encountering horrific attacks by earthly and inhuman assailants.

The adventurers who are desperately seeking the lost Staff piece successfully bring together supporters that include elves, dwarves, humans, and other races who join forces to save their beloved world. Against the backdrop of the raging conflict, tender romance begins to blossom between pure-hearted souls who find each other in the midst of a war-torn landscape and mythical quest.

My review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was an amazing follow up to War of the Staffs! This book was awesome and had everything in it from bloody battles, to world bending magic, awesome characters, and amazing world building.

The plot of this book continued to be told from multiple perspectives and getting a look into the mind and perspective of the villain really kept everything moving. The characters are all different with cool back stories and unique skills and powers that the reader is constantly rooting for Tarquin and Celedants group. Morganna is still my favorite character from this series next to Azimuth and it was awesome to read how the characters progressed.

The world building in this book was also really interesting, it really helped the reader imagine everything that was going on between the war and grizzly battles to the hardships of Celedant and his group.

My favorite part of this book has to be all the action. I absolutely loved reading about the different types of magic between magic weapons, elven magic, Dragon magic, wizard magic and warlock magic. It was also nice to read about the budding romances between characters new and old.

This book is perfect for fans of The Lord of The Rings and Throne of Glass as this book has a true Middle Earth feel to it. The characters are relateable, and the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat begging for more. All in all it’s an amazing read and I can’t wait to see how the series will end!

That’s it for this review I hope you all enjoyed. If you did and want to be notified of when I post hit that follow button and have an awesome day!

Friday Book Beginnings: Wraith Lords of Zeiglon by Steve Stephenson

Hey guys how is everyone doing today it’s yet another awesome Friday here in Massachusetts. A little on the warm side today and summer is definitely here. So because today is Friday it’s time for another Book Beginnings brought to you by the Rose City Reader And today the book I’m reading is:

Wraith Lords of Zeiglon

Taza relaxed on his black onyx throne, drinking a goblet of deep red wine laced with blood, as he mused over the loss of the dwarvan city of Brackus and the other schemes he had devised that had not gone the way he had hoped they would. Even though the city had suffered considerable damage and vast numbers of enemies were dead, his attacks against Celedant, Dragon Isle, and the dwarves had been miserable failures. Obviously, the beasts he had summoned from the void to attack his enemies were not powerful enough, which meant he would have to spend more time within that desolate dark nothingness to find others who would be. He was also less than pleased with the minions he had to work with on this planet. With the exception of Melgor and Sellis, the Warlocks’ Council was reluctant to become involved in global warfare, preferring to sit back on their magical backsides and observe. Well, Taza had news for them. Once his army of vampires held complete dominance over the races of the continent, the council would either play by his rules or join the ranks of his underlings under the subjugation of the Illanni, the first – a race of dark elves – to accept his offer of undead life. Only then would the world be safe.

So it seems Taza hates life on earth. Not to mention he refers to people as minions meaning he is most definetly an evil guy. He seems to be losing his patience as he’s afraid of his own demise at the hands of someone far more powerful than he could ever dream to be. He also seems to be turning alot kf dark elves and humans and Dwarves alike into blood thirsty evil vampires. He is also very angry because of the wizard Celedant managing to survive whatever turmoil Taza throws at him. He’s also powerful enough to go to different dimensions and bring back evil creatures that are not meant to be on earth. Taza seems like a really bad dude and the more he tries to thwart Celedant and Tarquin the worse things will get for him I’m sure.

Well that’s it for today I hope you all enjoyed it you liked this post and want notifications of when I post hit that follow button and have a great day!

Its mission: to raise “Death Scythes” for the Shinigami to wield against the many evils of their fantastical world. These Death Scythes, however, are not made from physical weapons; rather, they are born from human hybrids who have the ability to transform their bodies into Demon Weapons, and only after they have consumed the souls of 99 evil beings and one witch’s soul.

Soul Eater Evans, a Demon Scythe who only seems to care about what’s cool, aims to become a Death Scythe with the help of his straight-laced wielder, or meister, Maka Albarn. The contrasting duo work and study alongside the hot headed Black☆Star and his caring weapon Tsubaki, as well as the Shinigami’s own son, Death the Kid, an obsessive-compulsive dual wielder of twin pistols Patty and Liz.

Soul Eater follows these students of Shibusen as they take on missions to collect souls and protect the city from the world’s threats while working together under the snickering sun to become sounder in mind, body, and soul.

My review: 7/10⭐’s

So while I enjoyed this anime a great deal, I give it a lower rating because of how it ended. It was an awesome anime filled with amazing and funny characters, not to mention a very interesting plot. But for me unfortunately I couldn’t stand the ending!

It was so far off based from the manga I had no inkling to how the anime would end. Once it hits the Aracnay story arc the anime quickly veers off from the manga. Not to mention the anime doesn’t really give the audience an ending you just get stuck on a cliff hanger.

While the anime was comical and the characters funny and powerful the ending really just killed the anime for me. I’ve read the manga of Soul Eater and the way they end the manga is perfect and I would’ve loved to see it done in the anime.

One thing I really enjoyed about this anime is the attention to detail they showed for each individual’s back story. Not to mention I absolutely love the openings chosen for the anime they fit so well!

Well that’s it for this review guys I hope you enjoyed, if you want to be notified of everytime I make a post hit that follow button and have an awesome day!

Throwback Thursday: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Hey guys what’s up and how is everyone doing today? My mom is coming home from the hospital today, which of course I’m stoked about. She went in for emergency hernia surgery but she took it like a champ and after only two days in the hospital she will be home! Anyways today is a terrific Thursday and because it’s Thursday it’s time for another Throwback Thursday! This concept was brought to you by Renee at its booktalk and this week my Throwback is:

Little Women

Summary: Louisa May Alcott’s most famous novel, “Little Women,” is the story of four sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March. Loosely based upon the author’s own experiences with her three sisters, the novel is a classic coming of age story which follows the development of the young women into adulthood. Set against the backdrop of the American civil war, the story begins to unfold during Christmastime. With their father away at war, the family must endure great poverty induced hardship, often times going hungry. Central to the theme of the novel is the issue of overcoming one’s character flaws. For Meg it is vanity; Jo, temper; Beth, shyness; and Amy, selfishness. Through the various activities of the four sisters told throughout the novel lessons are learned of the consequences of these particular flaws. “Little Women” was an instant success and popular favorite ever since its original publication in 1868, spawning many sequels which Alcott’s readers clamored for.

This was a book I read for my summer reading assignment at school. It was in the summer I was going into 8th grade that I read this book. Having a sister of my own I could definitely understand how each of the sisters felt and the issues each of them had to overcome. The book was filled with emotion and of course has been a classic since the 1800s. I really recommend for other young women to read it, it’s really inspirational and heart warming.

So that it for this blog post if you want to check out more of my content check out my site and if you want to be notified anytime I post hit that follow button. I hope everyone has a great day!

TBR Thursday: Madilla by Ian Boyd

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? My mom is coming home from the hospital today after her emergency hernia surgery. So for me it’s the start to a great day! Anyways because it’s Thursday it’s time to share another book from my huge To Be Read list. This concept was brought to you by Kimberly Faye Reads and this week the book I chose was:

Madilla

Summary: From her very first touch of the piano keys, Madilla feels a strange tingle of energy running through her fingers. In defiance of the customs of her people, she connects through the spirit of her music with a wild mountain sparrow that shows her the freedom of wings and an endless blue sky.

Her piano becomes Madilla’s only escape from the violent atrocities of an isolated and forgotten mountain village, poisoned by centuries of military occupation. But her family has no escape. Tormented by lust and hatred, her uncle succumbs to the ways of the soldiers, igniting an even greater evil lurking within his spirit.

Recognising the confusion of her Mama’s unshakable beliefs, Madilla searches for her own truth. What she learns is that the magic she feels through her piano is only the beginning.

So I really like the sound of this book! I have a deep affinity for music especially violin and piano, and I’m all for healthy self expression and one forming their own beliefs. It’s also interesting because this book definitely has a Dystopian feel to it because of the harsh conditions these people are forced to live in. I think it’s cool and different to use music as magic for a young person to initiate her journey into the truth. So I’m definetly excited to read this book!

Fear and Hope

Someday I will lose you

And there’s nothing I can do

But that day is not today

For you have stayed to see tomorrow

I pray your ending is far away

These hope’s keep the anxiety at bay

And I fear when I close my eyes this dream will become a nightmare that I’ll have to live through again

And this hope will all be in vain as the depression stains my soul

I can feel my heart strain as I sit here in agony awaiting any news of your return

Spyro Funko Pop Details!

Hey guys I hope everyone’s having a great week. I just got some some awesome news from comic book about the newest addition to the Funko family:

Spyro The Dragon

The figure is set to sell for $10.99 and can be pre-ordered here on Entertainment Earth’s page. An exact release date wasn’t given; but it’s slated to arrive in September, possibly alongside the game’s arrival around that time. We’ll let you know once it’s finalized.

What’s more, if you do pre-order the Spyro figure from Entertainment Earth it qualifies for its current “BOGO half price” sale. So you can get another figurine for a lower price while you wait — patiently — for Spyro to arrive. And there are hundreds to choose from, so take your pick.

Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy brings back the fire-breathing hero’s original PlayStation adventures in fully remastered form, so you’ll see something old and new at the same time. Plus it’s looking fantastic thus far; and it’s a safe bet that he’ll be leaving his mark at E3 in just a few weeks’ time.

Reignited Trilogy releases on September 21 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There’s a rumor about a Nintendo Switch version being readiedbut nothing has been confirmed yet.

So that’s all I know about Spyro the Funko pop as well as the new reignited trilogy for Spyro coming out. I hope you enjoyed this post if I get anymore news I’ll let you guys know, I hope you all have an awesome day!

Hey everyone I hope you’re all having a great week so far. It’s another wonderful Wednesday and it’s time for a signature Woman Crush Wednesday! This week my chosen Women Crush is:

Rose also has an inner strength and old soul. It’s helped her alot, not to mention she knows how to fight and to trust her instincts.

Book Review: Lord of The Rings Meets Merlin in War of the Staffs by Steve Stephenson and K.M. Tedrick

Hey how is everyone doing today? It is another marvelous Monday here in Massachusetts. It’s a beautiful day with the sun shining and burds chirping, a perfect start to the week. Abd because today is Monday it’s time for another awesome book review. And this book review is about:

War of the Staffs

Summary: The goddess Adois brings a powerful vampire warlock named Taza through the void to turn Muiria into a planet of evil using her powerful staff. Needing an army, he turns a race of dark elves into vampires, but Prince Tarquin is born to fulfil a prophecy to stop Taza.

The prince cannot do it alone. The Wizard Celedant sends him to the Borderers, an elite group of dwarves to learn how to fight, while the wizard begins his search for the Staff of Adaman, the only thing capable of thwarting Taza and Adois’ Staff.

War of the Staffs is the search for two pieces of the ancient Staff of Adaman to counter Adois’ plans. The darkness is rising and using the black power of the Staff of Adois and his army of dark elves, giants, and orcs, Taza will begin a reign of terror the planet will not soon forget.

My Review:⭐⭐⭐⭐

So I rate this book 4.5 stars. The book was filled with battles, bloodshed, and magic. Not to mention awesome characterization, 3 demensional villains, and a very imaginative setting.

So the battles of this book were ferocious, dangerous, and killed off alot of characters. It definitely gave me a major Lord of the Rings feel with Dwarves, Dragons, and magical swords and warlocks.

I think the characters were all very strong willed and intelligent, and I actually enjoyed the lack of romance in this book. It kept the reader more focused on the plot wondering what would happen next. It also personally kept me more interested in the progressions of the individual characters. And it’s definetly a tie between Prince Tarquin and Morganna on who my favorite character is as both are very intelligent, loyal, and good natured.

Now for this book all the characters have the capacity for great good or great evil, but what’s so interesting about this book is the major baddy actually believes he’s cleansing and helping the world. In actuality all he’s doing is creating more chaos and danger.

Now the setting is very Middle Earth feel to it and the magic and warlocks give me a combo feeling of Gandalph The White and Merlin from King Arthur. Both very powerful but battle savy in weapons as well as magic.

The book as a whole was a terrific read but I had to cut off half a star only because of the strange formatting of the book. Well that’s ut for this book review I hope everyone wnjoyed, and have a great day!

Book Review: Fans of Mortal Instruments Rejoice over Chosen By Grace by Alicia Rades

Hey everyone how are you all doing on this fine Monday? I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing weekend. The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting, and it’s time for another awesome book review! So this week I read a terrific series starter called:

Chosen By Grace

Summary: She thought the demons were in her head… until the night they attacked.

Ryn Tyler didn’t intend to kill a demon when she moved to Eagle Valley—or to become the hero of a divine race of angels. She just wants to be a normal teenager, but fate has other plans.

While discovering the secrets of the supernatural, Ryn navigates a complicated relationship with Marek, the guy who can’t stop saving her life. But Marek knows more about Ryn’s magic than he’s letting on.

Only Ryn has the power to stop this age-old war. But there’s a demon in Eagle Valley who wants that power for himself—and if Ryn wants to survive, she’ll have to fight back.

My review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Definetly start this book when you have a good amount of time on your hands because once you start the book you won’t be able to put it down again until it’s finished! The plot is fast paced and filled with action, has memorable and relateable characters, and a mysterious sizzling romance that has the reader praying they will end up together.

So the characters are very interesting and complex each having there own reason to want to become protectors and fight the darkness threatening the human race. But a moral issue erupts in the main characters heart as the last thing she ever wants to do is willingly kill someone.

Unfortunately as the darkness looms threatening everything Ryn now holds so dear she may not have a choice but to sacrifice her morality to keep everyone safe.

The action and fight scenes were very well described in the book leaving the reader on the edge of their seats, internally screaming for their favorite characters to survive. Magic and powers no human can possess these characters are left to defend the whole human race.

It was a fantastic start to an interesting Angel trilogy. If your a fan of Mortal Instruments I would definitely recommend this book. It’s filled with magic, danger, moral struggles, and demons.

I hope everyone enjoyed the review, if you want to be notified of when I post hit that follow button and have a great day!

ManCrush Monday: Christopher Wolfe Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

Hey guys what’s up, and how are you all doing today? It’s another awesome Monday which means it’s time for another awesome Man Crush Monday! This week I chose another character from the Great Library series. And that is:

Christopher Wolfe

Now I chose Wolfe because he’s a mysterious, tortured soul, with a prickly disposition. He only does this as a defense mechanism as it’s dangerous for people to get close to him. He’s a good man with a very noble soul and a very good partner to his man Santi. He’s also very resilient, strong, intelligent, and a very good judge of character. That is why I chose him as my Man Crush Monday, I’d go into more detail about him but that would reveal alot about the plot that I don’t want to spoil.

So that’s why I chose Wolfe as my Man Crush this week. If you enjoyed this post hit that follow button and be notified whenever I post something, I hope everyone enjoys their day!

Instead of hitting the bottom of the well, Kagome ends up 500 years in the past during Japan’s violent Sengoku period with the demon’s true target, a wish-granting jewel called the Shikon Jewel, reborn inside of her.

After a battle with a revived demon accidentally causes the sacred jewel to shatter, Kagome enlists the help of a young hybrid dog-demon/human named Inuyasha to help her collect the shards and prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. Joining Kagome and Inuyasha on their quest are the orphan fox-demon Shippo, the intelligent monk Miroku, and the lethal demon slayer Sango. Together, they must set aside their differences and work together to find the power granting shards spread across feudal Japan and deal with the threats that arise.

So this review will be a little different as I will be reviewing the Inuyasha Manga and both anime adaptations.

My review: 10/10🌟’s

So I really enjoyed this anime. It was very close to the manga, the plot was a perfect blend of romance, comedy, swordfights, and adventure and the animation was really great.

So minus the episodes that are pure filler the Inuyasha anime to the Manga was ridiculously close. I think other than some differences in translation; the anime gave you all the same information as the manga.

My next favorite part of the series was the characters. They all had an awesome and deep back story that got them to hate the evil villain. And even the villains of the show were three dimensional and evil as hell. The show also had alot of antiheros that may have started out as minor villains.

And dont even get me started on the romance! I am totally team Kagome Inuyasha. Kikyo was more powerful and mature but I just loved Kagome and Inuyasha together! But of course there was other romances in the plot as well.

And of course this anime had me on the ground laughing and unable to breathe at times.

The plot was also really awesome. I loved watching and reading Kagome and Inuyasha get closer. It was also cool to see how close knit Inuyasha’s group was after getting to know each other. I think Inuyasha’s ending was one of my favorite endings from an anime. It ended just the way I was hoping and the plot twist was super amazing!

Overall these anime’s were very amazing and I enjoyed watching them. I loved the characters, plot, romance, comedy, and action. I’m so glad I watched this anime it’s definitely a favorite of mine.

So that’s it for this review I hope you enjoyed come back next Friday to see what anime I review next, and have a great weekend!

Is Days Gone A Copy Of The Last of Us? Director fires back!

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I really enjoy Zombie games one of my favorite is Left for Dead, so when I heard that there was a new genre of Zombie game coming out I totally had to check it out. So I heard about Days Gone and was instantly psyched about getting this game.

The trailer shows amazing graphics, easy game mechanics, and some super crazy and creepy zombie horde’s.

And it was totally awesome that we got a look into some of the gameplay.

Well now I guess there have been reports from people saying that the graphics, the concept, and gameplay is just a copy of The Last of Us.

This has led to John Garvin, the creative director of Sony and Bend Studio’s forthcoming action-adventure game, to state that it is not like Naughty Dog’s survival-horror title.

And the Director has fired back and according to GameRant this is what he had to say.

This much was declared during a recent interview between Garvin and Game Informer, in which the Days Gone creative director was asked if he was “sick of Last of Us comparisons”, with Garvin simply saying, “Yes.” The interviewer then pressed the issue to say, “It is, kind of, a little like it, though, right?” to which Garvin replied, “No, except that it’s a third-person action-adventure game where you’re killing creatures that aren’t zombies.”

Undoubtedly, two of the major reasons as to why many have continued to compare Days Gone and The Last of Us is due to the fact that, as Garvin pointed out, the games feature the ability for players to fight enemies that are essentially undead, and that both are set in lush, woodsy, overgrown environments. Interestingly enough, fans’ direct juxtaposition of the titles has remained constant ever since Sony filed a trademark a couple of years ago for Days Gone, with many having speculated it was related to TLOU in some capacity before even knowing what it was.

Bearing all of this in mind, it’s highly likely that fans will see at the very least see flashes of The Last of Us in certain Days Gone set pieces due to both of the titles existing within the post-apocalyptic genre, but that doesn’t mean the two games are interchangeable with one another. When one takes into consideration the first hour of gameplay that was released for Days Gone, it’s obvious that it is a far cry from what The Last of Us offers in terms of story, mechanics, and design, especially since the Sony Bend title is open world. This being said, we will simply have to reserve definitive judgment on Days Gone until it comes out next year.

Days Gone is set to release at some point in 2019 for PlayStation 4.

So I have yet to play The Last of Us but while I can see at max one or two similarities in the games, I wouldn’t go as far as to say they are the same game. And while I haven’t played it I’ve seen alot of gameplays and honestly the only way to really determine how similar these games are is to wait for Days Gone to be released next year.

So that’s it for this blog post. I hope everyone enjoyed it. What do you think are Days Gone and The Last of Us pretty much the same game? What are your thoughts on these two games? Hit that follow button to be notified when I post and if you want to be a part of my newsletter follow me by email, I hope everyone has a great weekend.

New Dragon Ball Anime and movie Animation

Hey everyone how are you all doing this week? It’s another awesome Friday and I just got some awesome news about Dragon Ball! I found some new articles from comic book and had to post a blog about the news!

As it turns out, the new anime is a PR title, meant to promote the Dragon Ball Heroes arcade/card game that’s popular in Japan. While some fans are scrambling to learn what Dragon Ball Heroes is all about, other fans are wondering how the game is being translated to anime.

Dragon Ball Super fans know the setup of the Universal Survival saga, namely tournament held by the Grand Zenos with the strongest fighters from throughout the multiverse. It saw Goku go Ultra Instinct for an epic fight against new fan-fav fighter Jiren of Universe 11. Heroes even spoiled the final Goku/Freeza tag-team battle against Jiren, months before the anime reached that point!

Also we finally got a look at some more of the animation from the Dragon Ball Super movie. So, if you are ready to see a brand-new take on the iconic form, just look below!

As you can see, the first-look came courtesy of a vetted sources in the anime realm. Yonkou Productions shared images of Vegeta and Goku as Super Saiyans, and the Weekly Shonen Jump art reimagines the form.

At first glance, there isn’t anything too different about the Super Saiyan form. The makeover is different from how the power-up appeared in Dragon Ball Super. Though it is colorful, the Dragon Ball Super movie mutes some of its shadowing. If anything, the new style is more reminiscent to the way Super Saiyan first appeared in Dragon Ball Z.

Also, just take a look at that slick hair. The heroes may not be shining with any Ki auras, but Goku doesn’t look like anyone you want to mess with in this new still.

For those curious, this new design is in line with the overall aesthetic change of Dragon Ball Super. The series will get a major makeover when its first film drops, and fans can thankNaohiro Shintani for that gift. The beloved animator was brought in by Toei Animation to oversee the movie, and his impressive resume includes projects such as One Piece Film Z.

So that’s it for this post I hope you enjoyed hearing more Dragon Ball news, have a great weekend guys!

Friday Book Beginnings: Cryptid Discovery by Douglas E. Roff and Jacob A. Roff

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? It’s another fabulous Friday and with the weekend just about here it’s time for some serious relaxation time. And because it’s another fun Friday it’s time for another awesome Book beginnings brought to you by The Rose City Reader. https://www.rosecityreader.com/?m=1 This week the book I’m reading is:

Cryptid: Discovery

“Son…son…? “Here, Dad,” the younger man said reflexively, waking to the soft sounds coming from the old man he barely recognized any longer as his father. The old man’s breathing had become so shallow that the younger man could no longer tell whether his father had mercifully passed or was still barely clinging to a life he no longer wished to endure. Connected as he was to a complex array of hospital machines and laden with drugs to ease the pain, the old man held on. Not out of fear for the inevitable fate that awaited him, but for those final few minutes, perhaps hours, during which he could embrace the only thing that had ever really mattered to him: his son. In another place, but not this place, he was completely at peace. The hardware of his body had long ago deserted him, but not the software that ran an incredible and powerful mind. The old man had endured a life seeking to reconcile his long and fruitful life with a senseless death caused so many years ago in a trendy LA coffee house. Only the insurmountable pain of separation from her had lingered like an old friend, ever constant in lifelong companionship. But his God was a loving God who had given him a son, a son who had meant everything to him in so many ways. His love for him had always been unconditional, though its manner of expression often less than ideal. If he had been harsh with his son, he had never meant to be.

This is of course was a very sad beginning. As this man is losing his father who no longer even resembles the man he once knew. The father of course seems regretful and wants his son to know that he loves him and hopes that his son can forgive him for any shortcomings. His son is also married with children and it seems the dying father is so old he has not only grandchildren but great grandchildren. The father dying clearly is at peace with his death and wants nothing more than to be reunited with Anna the woman he loved. He also seems yo be a very religious man who trusts that God will give his soul a great rest. He seems to believe God has heard his pleas and is allowing him into his kingdom to see his lost loved ones. It seems like his son also wants his father to be at peace.

So that’s it for this blog post everyone I hope you enjoyed it. If you want notificatiins if when I post again hit that follow button, and if you want my weekly newsletter hit that follow by email button and have a great day!

TBR Thursday: A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? It’s another fun Thursday and I hope everyone has been having a great week. The weather here in Massachusetts has been pretty good this week and I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend. But where today is Thursday it’s time for another fun TBR Thursday brought to you by Kimberly Faye Reads And this week my TBR is:

A Torch Against The Night

Summary: After the events of the Fourth Trial, Martial soldiers hunt the two fugitives as they flee the city of Serra and undertake a perilous journey through the heart of the Empire.

Laia is determined to break into Kauf—the Empire’s most secure and dangerous prison—to save her brother, who is the key to the Scholars’ survival. And Elias is determined to help Laia succeed, even if it means giving up his last chance at freedom.

But dark forces, human and otherworldly, work against Laia and Elias. The pair must fight every step of the way to outsmart their enemies: the bloodthirsty Emperor Marcus, the merciless Commandant, the sadistic Warden of Kauf, and, most heartbreaking of all, Helene—Elias’s former friend and the Empire’s newest Blood Shrike.

Bound to Marcus’s will, Helene faces a torturous mission of her own—one that might destroy her: find the traitor Elias Veturius and the Scholar slave who helped him escape…and kill them both.

So I haven’t had a chance to read this book yet but I really enjoyed the first one in the trilogy. I hope the second installment is just as good as the first one hopefully better. I’ll be happy as long as this book doesn’t have the horrible second book syndrome.

I hope you all had a good time reading this post. I’m bookishnerdygirl and if you want to read more of my posts hit that follow button and if you want to recieve my new weekly newsletter follow me through email. I hope everyone has a great day!

Throwback Thursday: The Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? It’s a cloudy but warm day here in Massachusetts and I’m glad the winter is gone. But today is Thursday and time for a fun Throwback Thursday. This concept was brought to you at Renee at it’s booktalk. And this week my Throwback Thursday is:

The Queen of the Damned

Summary: In a feat of virtuoso storytelling, Anne Rice unleashes Akasha, the queen of the damned, who has risen from a six-thousand-year sleep to let loose the powers of the night. Akasha has a marvelously devious plan to “save” mankind and destroy the vampire Lestat—in this extraordinarily sensual novel of the complex, erotic, electrifying world of the undead.

So I absolutely loved reading this book. I’m a major vampire fan and we all know Anne Rice is clearly queen of the vampires. I loved the characters in this book they were terrifying realistic and sedy at the same time. This is still one if my favorite vampire books and one that tops all other vampire novels. The plot was also really interesting and almost hypnotized the reader by the intoxicating descriptions and bloodlust.

Well that’s it for this blog post I hope you all enjoyed it. If you want to be nktified of when I post hit that follow button and if you want to be a part of my weekly newsletter follow me through email.

Feel Like A Monster

Afraid to let the anger inside out

I scream as I scramble internally to vent all of my frustrations and doubts

But as my screams fall upon deaf ears I shut down a platinum wall now stands 10 feet tall

I stumble and then crawl as I feel the darkness shatter my soul

My heart cries in desperation to stop the madness and my devastation

The darkness continues on to end all of the pure parts of me

And I fear that this monster and darkness will take control and hurt all that are closest to my heart

I feel like a monster and there’s no way to stop

As the monster is free I continue to cry in agony as I lay helpless to contain my own madness

Death Stranding At E3 2018!

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? So a lot of you know I’m a major gamer and a videogame I’m definetly curious about is:

Death Stranding

It was announced 2 years ago at E3 and while we’ve gotten a few trailers we haven’t heard anything else about it. Well I was parousing the internet and came across an article by; Gaming bolt. Which said Sony went ahead and confirmed that Death Stranding would be one of four headlining games for its press conference.

Over on Twitter, Kojima seems to be fairly busy editing what seems to be a trailer for the game together. The attached images via his Twitter are teasing enough. However, it’s also interesting to read about Kojima’s experience with editing, going from an expensive uncompressed editing machine and operator about 25 years ago to editing 4K footage in real time at home.

Kojima also notes that editing is something that can be done alone without much stress. “It is refreshing and enjoyable to proceed with my own pace and sense. Only con is that I have to get used to the new machine.” We’re not sure the enormous Godzilla figure helps but it certainly looks cool.

As for Sony’s E3 2018 presser, it will take place on June 11th at 6 PM PST. Other games scheduled to headline the presser include Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and The Last of Us: Part 2.

So maybe with a new trailer from Death Stranding we could fet a release date. If you haven’t seen any of the trailers click the videos and check them out.

So that’s it for today as soon as I can get my hands on some more infor I’ll let you guys know. I hope you enjoyed the blog, if you did hit that follow button and get notifications on when I post. Top 10 Tuesday: Books I Disliked/Hated but Am Really Glad I Read (maybe just for bragging rights)

Hey guys whats up? How is everyone doing today? It’s a nice warm day here in Massachusetts, after the on and off cold and rain it’s nice to get sone sun. Anyways today is Tuesday and it’s time for another Top 10 Tuesday brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week the books that are going to make this list are:

Books I Disliked/Hated but Am Really Glad I Read (maybe just for bragging rights)

1.) The Young Elites

For me I just didn’t care for the main heroine and her characterization left me not wanting to read anymore of the series. I did finish the book and I knew the main character was going to be more of an antihero than anything else but I just couldn’t connect to her at all.

2.) Thirst

So I read this book and finished like the first volume of it. Its an urban fantasfantasy vampire tale that I just couldn’t get into. The plot was super slow and it was also really confusing at times. I heard it was a good book but I just wasn’t feeling it.

3.) Blood Rose Rebellion

While the main character Anna annoyed the crap out of me, I did enjoy the book to a certain extent. I will read the second book that is coming out for it because there are alot of other characters I enjoyedreading about in the book.

So those are the only books I’ve ever really disliked. I have read and finished most of these books apart from Thirst. I may pick it up again sometime in the distant future but I don’t know. Anyways that’s it for this Top 10 Tuesday I hope you enjoyed. If you want to get notifications of when I post hit that follow button and if you want to be part of my newsletter squad follow me through email. I hope everyone has a great day and if you’re on the East Coast like me go out and get some sunshine!

Book Review: The Hunger Games meets Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works in Ruthless Magic by Megan Crewe

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? It’s another fantastic Minday and time for another cool book review! So this was a book I got for free through the author in exchange for an honest review. And the book I got to read is called:

Ruthless Magic

Summary: In the contest to keep their magic, the only options may be die… or kill.

Each year, the North American Confederation of Mages assesses every sixteen-year-old novice. Some will be chosen. The rest must undergo a procedure to destroy their magical ability unless they prove themselves in the mysterious and brutal Mages’ Exam.

Disadvantaged by her parents’ low standing, Rocío Lopez has dedicated herself to expanding her considerable talent to earn a place in the Confederation. Their rejection leaves her reeling—and determined to fight to keep her magic.

Long ashamed of his mediocre abilities, Finn Lockwood knows the Confederation accepted him only because of his prominent family. Declaring for the Exam instead means a chance to confirm his true worth.

Thrown into the testing with little preparation, Rocío and Finn find themselves becoming unlikely allies—and possibly more. But the Exam holds secrets more horrifying than either could have imagined. What are the examiners really testing them for? And as the trials become increasingly vicious, how much are they willing to sacrifice to win?

My Review:🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

So I gave this book 5 stars because the writing was interesting, the characters were all 3 dimensional, and the book explored themes like social class, privilege, prejudice, and government deception.

The Government or the Confederation and the circle are of course corrupt and decide who gets to have magic and who doesn’t. They are considered old magic and are extremely threatened by new magic, and don’t agree with everyone having magic. Social class and privilege are major themes in this book as many of the most powerful mage’s are old magic and have a very large social standing.

The mage’s who are new magic are more than likely watched closely, and one of the main characters is considered new magic. The government is extremely prejudiced about new magic.

The characters in this book are all very naive and really have no idea what to expect in these challenges. They start off extremely divided old magic vs. new magic, but as the tests barrel through the contestants social standings, and prejudices are alleviated and they start working together to overcome the examiners.

With all these different theme’s embedded into the plot of this urban fantasy you can’t put the book down! The plot was fast paced and even when a trial wasn’t going on a simmering romance began to form, and soon all lines that were drawn in the sand had dissolved and the only way to survive was together. The ending leaves on a cliffhanger so be prepared to have to wait for the next book in the trilogy. Click on the picture above and it’ll lead you to a link where you can pre-order the book now.

That’s it for this review I hope you all enjoyed it. If you want to be notified of when I post hit that follow button and if you want to be a part of my newsletter follow me through email. I hope you all enjoyed and have a great day!

Book Review: Shadow and Bone meets A Shadow Bright and Burning in Looking For Dei ARC by David A. Wilson

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope everyone had an awesome weekend but it’s now Monday and time for another fun book review. So this week a book that I’m reviewing is called:

Looking For Dei

Summary: Magic, adventure, and a search for the divine…

Fifteen-year-old Nara Dall has never liked secrets. Yet it seems that her life has been filled with them, from the ugly scar on her back to the strange powers she possesses. Her adoptive father refuses to say anything about her origins, and soon, she and her best friend must attend the announcement ceremony, in which youths are tested for a magical gift.

A gifted youth has not been announced in the poor village of Dimmitt for decades. When Nara uncovers the reason, she uses her own powers to make things right. The decision sets her on a path of danger, discovery, and a search for the divine. In the process, she learns the truth about herself and uncovers the biggest secret of all: the power of broken people.

My Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

So I got a free copy of this from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I enjoyed reading this book but felt the need to set it down and read it at another point at times. The book is definitely a slow read with a huge ending climax that makes all the waiting worth it.

I was impressed with the characterization because even the characters were younger they were very mature. This book is told from multiple perspectives including the villain perspectives. It made the book very cohesuve in that regard and I always reading the book from the villain’s perspective to get understand the character better.

I also really liked the way magic was described in the book. The runes were very interesting to read about, they could be hard to understand at times but very interesting nonetheless.

The world building was also really interesting to read about. While some regions are very poor others are ridiculously wealthy; and I found that even though the fight scenes were in a young adult setting they definitely didn’t lack brutality.

Also the way the kingdom and church handled cursed born children was fascinating and made me think of Rook from Jessica Clueless’ novel A Shadow Bright and Burning. And even though the religion was a fictitious one it felt very real to the plot and the characters following it.

All in all the book was good. As I said it may have a slow start but hang in until the end because it gets really good! So that’s it for this blog post, to get notifications of when I post hit that follow button.

And if you want to get my newsletter follow me through email or send me an email and I’ll add you to the list! Anyways I hope you enjoyed this review and have a good day. If you wsnt to buy the book click on the picture and it’ll take you to amazon where you can buy the book.

Music Monday: Lay Me Down by Sam Smith

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, but today is Minday and tge start of a brand new week! And because it’s Monday it’s time for another fun Music Monday brought to you by The Tattooed Book Geek. This week my Music Monday choice is:

Lay Me Down

Yes, I do, I believe
That one day I will be
Where I was right there
Right next to you

And it’s hard
The days just seem so dark
The moon and the stars
Are nothing without you

Your touch, your skin
Where do I begin?
No words can explain
The way I’m missing you

Deny this emptiness
This hole that I’m inside
These tears
They tell their own story

Told me not to cry when you were gone
But the feeling’s overwhelming, it’s much too strong

Can I lay by your side?
Next to you, you
And make sure you’re alright
I’ll take care of you
I don’t want to be here if I can’t be with you tonight

I’m reaching out to you
Can you hear my call?
This hurt that I’ve been through
I’m missing you, missing you like crazy

[This verse is only in the album version:]
You told me not to cry when you were gone
But the feeling’s overwhelming, it’s much too strong

Can I lay by your side?
Next to you, you
And make sure you’re alright
I’ll take care of you
I don’t want to be here if I can’t be with you tonight

Lay me down tonight
Lay me by your side
Lay me down tonight
Lay me by your side
Can I lay by your side?
Next to you
You

Anime Review: Tim Burton meets Alice and Wonderland in Pandora Hearts by Jun Mochizuki

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? It is Friday and one step closer to the weekend. And since it’s Friday it’s time for anothrr anime review! This week my anime review is:

Pandora Hearts

パンドラハーツ

(Pandora Haatsu)

Genre: Psychological thriller, Gaslamp fantasy, Drama, Mystery MangaWritten by Jun Mochizuki Published by Square Enix English publisher: Yen Press

Demographic Shōnen Magazine Monthly GFantasy Original run May 18, 2006 – March 18, 2015 Volumes 24

Anime television series

Summary: Oz Vessalius, one of the Heirs of the Four Dukedoms, has just turned fifteen. His life is rich and carefree, darkened only by the constant absence of his father. At his coming-of-age ceremony, however, everything changes. For no reason that he can discern, he is cast into the prison known as the “Abyss,” only to be saved by a “chain” known as Alice, the Bloodstained Black Rabbit or B-Rabbit for short. The mystery begins there as Oz unravels the mystery behind Alice, the Abyss and the strange organization known as Pandora. The series features heavy references to Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and can be considered both fantasy and mystery.

My review: 7.5🌟’s of 10

So I really enjoyed this anime alot. It was interesting, had really interesting characters, a mysterious plot that kept the reader interested and an animation style that was perfect for this anime.

The plot was really interesting and fast paced, everytime you turned around the mystery of Alice and OZ became more gut wrenching. You needed answers and once you got them it brought forth a million more questions in it’s wake. The battle scenes and how they used the chains and bits from Alice and Wonderland was also a very nice touch.

One thing that made this anime for me was the interaction between characters. I absolutely love Alice and Gilbert’s banter. I also loved how Break would just pop out of literally no where.

My only complaint is that the anime ended way too soon and that the last 3 episodes had absolutely nothing to do with the manga. I would love to see a second season for Pandora Hearts now that the manga is finished.

Well thats it for this review I hope you all enjoyed it, hit that follow button to get notifications on when I post. If you want to be a part of my newsletter follow me through email and I’ll add you to the list. Well thats it for today I hope you all have an awesome weekend!

Friday Book Beginnings: Ruthless Magic by Megan Crewe

Hey everyone how are you all doing today? It is finally Friday and with my allergies dissipating I can’t wait to enjoy the weekend. But today is Friday and time for another awesome Friday Book beginnings brought to you by The Rose City Reader and this week I’m reading an advanced reader’s copy of:

Ruthless Magic

When I’d rehearsed this conversation with my father in my head, I’d been a shining example of wit, passion, and the famous Lockwood composure. Unfortunately, my imagination had lied. I was on the verge of pacing a hole in his study’s Persian rug, and I appeared to have lost my ability to string more than three words together. All of which was extremely bad timing, given that the course of my future as a mage might be decided in the next half hour. I managed to partly untangle my tongue. “What I mean is, no official decisions have been made yet. For what track I’ll be put on at the college. Right?”Dad nodded. He’d shut his laptop after he’d welcomed me in, and now he stood by his broad mahogany desk. Behind him, the drapes were pulled back from the tall windows. The warm sunlight pouring in caught on the distinguished sprinkling of silver in his light brown hair. “The placement committee won’t meet until the letters have all been sent and the acceptances received,”he said. I drew in a breath. The smells of Dad’s study were a mix of intimidating and comforting: all those ancient leather-bound magical texts on the shelves at my left, the lingering hint of woodsmoke from the fireplace at my right. “And Granduncle Raymond will have some say in my placement. That’s what he’s coming to talk to you about.” “Undoubtedly.”

So this kid Finn seems to be nervous about getting a letter from college. Considering the name of the book is called ruthless magic I’m assuming the college is magical. This guy Finn seems to believe he hasn’t done well with magic, and giving the way he talks alot of pressure is on him. It also seems like Finn and his father don’t care for Granduncle Raymond. It seems he has some pull on the maical college and in order for Finn to get the position he wants he will have to have his family pull major strings to get him in. Finn also seems like he wants to make a difference in the mage community and help it but without any real magical talent he won’t really be able to help at all.

So thats my Friday Book Beginnings, I hope you enjoyed if you want notifications of when I post hit that follow button. If you want to join my weekly newsletter hit the follow by email button and I can add you to the list, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Grey Dawn New Trailer and Release Date!

So as many of you guys know, I’m a gamer and one if my favorite genre of gaming is horror. It makes me scream and freak out but I absolutely love horror games, and one that I’ve heard alot about for the past like 2 years or so is:

Grey Dawn

According to the games official website http://gray-dawn.com Grey Dawn is a first person horror game that entangles you into the terrifying adventure of a priest on a quest to prove his innocence.

It is an atmospheric thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

CHRISTMAS EVE, 1910

You’re a Swedish-born priest and you are suspected of murdering one of your altar boys.

You are on a desperate quest to prove your innocence.

The boy was severely sick and was experiencing inhuman behavior, so you tried to exorcise him.

THE EXORCISM FAILED

The boy jumped out of the window.

No corpse was ever found.

You find yourself trapped in the middle of strange events involving demonic possession and divine apparitions.

This is a first person horror game that will only be available for PC. And after 2 years of hearing next to nothing I finally heard some news that Grey Dawn has come out with a new trailer!

We also finally have gotten a release date! So if you watch the trailer at the very end of it you will see that the game will be released in Q2 of 2018. I know it’s not a specific date but at least we know around the time it will come out.

So what do you think of Grey Dawn will you be playing it when it comes out? I seriously can’t wait! Thats all for this post I hope everyone enjoyed it and has a great day. Starting in a few weeks I’ll stqrt a weekly newsletter so of you’re interested become an email follower of mine and I’ll send you a newsletter.

TBR Thursday: The Shadow Prison by K.A Parkinson

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? It’s been a pretty good week for me so far still feeling a little under the weather but I’m hanging in well enough. Anyways today is Thursday which means it’s time for another TBR Thursday brought to you by Kimberley Faye Reads. So this week on my TBR list is:

The Shadow Prison

Summary: From the first moment the Watcher, Bastian, and his ward, Macy, showed up on his doorstep, Tolen Parks knew his attempts at a normal life were gone forever. While his peers were measured for caps and gowns and submitting college applications, he s been fighting the evil forces of the Dark, learning to tap into powers he once feared, and accepting the role of the Ninth Chosen, a destiny far greater and more terrifying than he could have ever imagined. Tolen has discovered that his father is trapped at the center of the Dark’s stronghold, the Shadow Prison, and that it is Tolen that must step forward and rescue him. But while Tolen’s gifts are powerful, his lack of control makes him dangerous, leaving tragedy in his wake and losing his allies’ trust. His advisors want him to train, but Tolen knows that time is running out for his father, and sometimes it doesn’t matter if you’re ready when you’re needed most.

So I read the first book in the saga and seriously can’t wait to see where this book leads. I have some reservations about Macy still but hopefully her and Tolen can work things out as I think Macy really needs him to quell her fears about the darkness.

So thats all for this post I hope you enjoyed it. Within the next few weeks I’ll start to send out a weekly newsletter to anyone who’s interested. All you have to do is follow me bookishnerdygirl through email and I can add you to my list to recieve my newsletter. I hope everyone has a great day!

Throwback Thursday: Among The Barons by Margaret Peterson Haddix

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope you have all been having a great week so far; today is Thursday and time for another Throwback Thursday brought to you by Renee at its booktalk. And this week my Throwback is:

Among the Barons

Summary: Still using the identity of Lee Grant, a legal (and wealthy) child who died, Luke is shocked when Lee’s younger brother, Smits, suddenly arrives at Hendricks School for Boys; his world is upset further when Smits sets fire to the school and both boys are summoned to the Grant mansion. There, Luke fumbles through Baron, or upper-class, life, and gains insight into Lee’s death: the government killed him after catching him running guns for revolutionaries. Luke isn’t sure whom he can trust: The Grants say they want to stage Luke’s death so they can openly grieve for their son, which would send Luke back into hiding, while brute bodyguard Oscar claims to be part of the “underground resistance” and tries to enlist Luke in a plan that would make Smits suffer. As with the other Shadow Children books, not all the plotting is consistent, and readers might be frustrated that the author raises more questions than she answers. Even so, the bond that forms between Luke and the alternately snotty and needy Smits is compelling, and there are enough cliffhangers and plot twists to keep readers hooked.

So I read this book sometime my Freshman year in highschool 8 years ago. I had read the first book of the series Among The Hidden back in middle school and wanted to continue reading the series. The first book was really good and I’m glad I finally got to read the second book. I highly recommend that you read the series, the books are very well written and keeps the reader guessing and on the edge of their seats.

So thats it for this fun Throwback I hope you all enjoyed it. I’ll be starting a newsletter in a couple weeks so if your interested hit my follow through email button and I’ll add you to the list. I hope you have a great rest if your day!

A Poets Isolation

Alone she felt even with all the people she could touch around her

Invisible when her sister was alive and now more so even in her death

Fear swept through and hit like a tsunami as the darkness swept in waves taking away her oxygen …

Finding an escape was impossible as the jagged edges scraped across her palms leaving her hands frozen and numb

Nothing cut through the darkness and as she sat alone forgotten and foreshadowed a hand outstretched saving her from isolation offering her a voice and redemption

Women Crush Wednesday: Bulma Dragon Ball Franchise by Akira Toriyama

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? My allergies are starting to get better but still crappy and annoying the hell out of me. But I’m sure I’ll be feeling much better by the end of the week and onto why you’re all here, and its time for another amazing Women Crush Wednesday! So this week for my women crush I chose:

Bulma

So I chose Bulma as my woman Crush because she’s super intelligent, a tough character that is very helpful and not just annoying and is full of courage.

Bulma is a scientist that is so intelligent her family has created jujust about any automobile known to man. I mean the girl single handedly created a frigan time machine! Seriously even if she can be annoying and naggy at times have to give her mad props.

Another reason I chose Bulma is because of her determination and inner strength. I mean the girl has the most evil saiyan prince wrapped around her finger, and forced him to change his ways.

Not only does she have an inner strength but the girls slaps are absolutely legendary. I mean she was brave enough to slap the almight God of Destruction. And now even he doesn’t want to feel another one of Bulma’s signature slaps and freak out sessions.

Bulma also has a way of making people feel the gravity of a situation. Especially in Dragon Ball super, I mean she made the God of Destruction Beerus feel responsible for helping out Future Trunks’ timeline.

So thats why Bulma is my Woman Crush; she’s intelligent, blunt, strong, determined, courageous, and a little crazy. I hope you enjoyed the blog hit that follow button to see my future posts. Also I’ll be starting an email newsletter as soon as I can so if you’re interested in that as well follow me through email. I hope you all have a great rest of your day!

Top 10 Tuesday: Books With My Favorite Color On the Cover (or In the Title)

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope you’re all having a terrific Tuesday. The weather here in Mass is crazy as usual and man are my allergies starting to annoy me. Everyone knows chest congestion and asthma don’t mix, but my allergies don’t seem to care much lol. Anyways because it’s Tuesday it’s time for anither fun Top 10 brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl but created by The Broke and The Bookish and this weeks Top 10 is:

Books With My Favorite Color On the Cover (or In the Title)

So my favorite color is purple so it will definitely be hard to find books with a purple cover or purple in the name. These books also won’t be random but books I’ve read or that are on my TBR list.

Remembering Majyk by Valia Land

The Shadow Prison by K.A. Parks

The Girl Without Magic by Megan O’Russel

Chosen By Grace by Alicia Rades

So I haven’t had a chance to read this book yet but I’ve heard it’s really good and of course it has purple on the book which makes me really want to read it lol.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I have had the opportunity to read the second installment to The Grisha trilogy. I absolutely loved this trilogy as well as Leigh’s duology of Six of Crows!

Prism by Nina Walker

I’ve had a chance to read this book I really enjoyed it but have yet to read the other book in the series called Fractured. Hopefully it doesn’t have second book syndrome.

Prophecy of Darkness by Michelle Bryan and M. Lynn

So I got a free copy of this book through Netgalley and really enjoyed it despite it’s slow introduction.

Soulmate by Anna Santos

So I’ve read this amazing and sizling installment from Anna Santos. I absolutely loved all the romance between the two main characters!

Renegade Red by Lauren Bird Horowitz

I have read Renegade Red and it is fabulous! Definetly a series you need to read if you haven’t already, and the best part is it doesn’t suffer second book syndrome.

The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

So I haven’t had a chance to read this book yet it looks a d sounds really cool though. I feel like this book will definitely have a darker feel to it.

So thats it for this top 10. I hope you enjoyed this post and come back again to check out some of my other content. And hit that follow button to get email updates of wgen I post. I hope everyone has a great day!

Book Review: Buffy The Vampire Slayer meets Throne of Glass in A Chosen Life by K.A. Parkinson

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I’m hoping you all had an awesome weekend, but today is Monday and it’s time for anogher fun book review! So today the book I’m reviewing is:

A Chosen Life

Summary: When Macy was chosen to join an elite group of children responsible for protecting ignorant mankind from the monsters of the Dark, she understood there isn’t time for speed bumps, and the arrival of the Ninth Chosen ten years late is one big bump. The Ninth is to one day lead all the Chosen in a final battle between Light and Dark forces, but the legendary warrior turns out to be Tolen Parks, a clueless and reclusive seventeen year-old whom Macy fears will not be their captain but instead their downfall. In an action-packed entertainer, Tolen and Macy are swept down a dangerous path that tests everything that Macy is, and brings out everything that Tolen can be, as they discover the power of choice, true friendship, integrity, and the incredible influence a single person can have on the world.

My review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hey guys so I really enjoyed this book. It was a great fantasy read filled with awesome magic, nail biting fight scenes, and some really cool and frustrating characters.

Now one thing I really look for when I’m reading a book especially a book in the fantasy genre is characterization. If I can’t understand the characters or like them I can’t get into it the book no matter how good the plot is. I also like characters that feel human and three dimensional and while I may not agree with there decisions or like how they react to situations it adds a complexity to them that makes me want to get to know them and that’s how I felt with Macy in this book. I liked her alot of the time but some of her choices and actions definitely irritates me.

I enjoyed the plot alot because it stays interesting and refreshing by switching up perspectives and giving the reader a chance to get to know the characters and figure out how the magic works, and what these characters are fighting for. It starts off slow and took me a little bit to get into the book but after about chapter ten I was really hooked!

The fight scenes were also really detailed and I loved the lore of The Hidden and the magic abilities of The Chosen. You can also see a bit of a budfing romance between characters that was definitely ingrained into the plot but more as an after thought which I actually found refreshing. All in all this book was a solid read and once you get past the slow start you’ll dive right into this book head first.

So thats it for this book review everyone I hope you enjoyed. If you enjoy my content come back again and follow my blog, I also want to urge you to follow me through email as I’m going to start writing a weekly newsletter!

Music Monday: Nothing Else Matters by Metallica

Hey guys how are you all doing today? I hope everyone had a great weekend but it’s now Monday and time for another fun Music Monday. This concept was brought to you by The Tattooed book Geek and the song I chose this week is a classic called:

“Nothing Else Matters”

So close no matter how far

Couldn’t be much more from the heart

Forever trusting who we are

And nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way

Life is ours, we live it our way

All these words I don’t just say

And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you

Every day for us something new

Open mind for a different view

And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do

Never cared for what they know

But I know

So close no matter how far

Couldn’t be much more from the heart

Forever trusting who we are

And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do

Never cared for what they know

But I know

I never opened myself this way

Life is ours, we live it our way

All these words I don’t just say

And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you

Every day for us something new

Open mind for a different view

And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they say

Never cared for games they play

Never cared for what they do

Never cared for what they know

And I know

Man Crush Monday: Edward Elric Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood by Hiromu Arakawa

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope you all had an amazing weekend. It was quite relaxing for me a little hotter and humid then I would’ve liked but enjoyable all the same. Even got to see my fella which was great lol. Anyways, today is Monday and time for a fun ManCrush Monday! And this week my choice for ManCrush is:

Edward Elric

Not only is Ed super intelligent and caring but he’s a fighter and protector who’s been through alot.

Ed also has a very strong moral code and will under no circumstance kill another person. He will mess you up quite a bit though if you screw with him or someone he cares deeply about.

Ed’s also a really funny character with a terrible temper especially if you call him short. He gets even more mad if you call his younger bother Al the Fullmetal Alchemist because he’s taller than Ed.

He’s also quite bashful at times and can even be caught off guard when he’s around his childhood friend Winry.

But thats why I chose Ed as my Man Crush he’s a great guy who’s very loyal to his loved one’s and wants the world to be a better place. So if you liked this post hit that follow button as within a few weeks I’ll be sending out my first weekly newsletter!

Book Review: Lord of The Rings meets Gryphons in Windbreak by Derek Alan Siddoway

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope everyone had a great weekend, but it’s now a brand new Monday. I read some fantastic books last week one of them being

Windbreak: Gryphon Riders trilogy book 3

Summary: Against all odds, Eva and her friends are alive. And they’ve returned home with the only chance the Windsworn have of defeating the Smelterborn.

Hope, however, will prove to be short-lived and bittersweet.

An army of iron golems marches west and nothing can stop them. To survive the coming war, the gryphon riders must stand with old enemies against the ancient darkness. As the fighting begins, a small band makes their way east on a desperate quest: to destroy the source of the Smelterborn’s power once and for all. Chances are, none of them will make it out alive.

Eva and Fury will be tested like never before. Heroes will fall. Kingdoms will shatter. The price of victory has never been higher.

Will Eva succeed in driving back the darkness or will everything she loves be crushed beneath the iron fist of the Smelterborn?

My review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

So I absolutely loved the finishing installment to this book series. The plot was well thought out, it gave you major feels by killing off certain characters, and we even got a better glimpse at some romance and the true loyalty of the Gryphons and their riders.

So this book was full of fighting and war. And because it’s a war the Gryphon Riders are really put to the test fighting the giant Smelterborne and trying to unite the realm to fight. And unfortunately their are quite a few casualties in this book. And as Eva watches as more of her loved ones fall the reader is instantly transported to the battle and can feel the weight of her grief and responsibility.

The major character growth was delightful to read. Eva really grew into her own as not only a Gryphon Rider but as a strong woman in general.

I loved the speediness of the plot you could really feel how fast things were going and the choices Eva had to make couldn’t be planned. It really felt like a war that the reader gets sucked into. Every choice that was made really weighed on Eva and alot if the time all I wanted to do was hug the poor girl.

And I know alot of people complained about the ending feeling unfinished, but I have to disagree. I think it ended perfectly and I know for a fact there will be more books on the Gryphons even if it’s not about Eva and her flock of riders.

All in all it was a fabulous book that I loved from beginning to end and highly recommend. So that is it for this book review I hope all who have read it enjoyed it. I’ll be starting a weekly newsletter so if you’re interested hit that follow button and have an aweaome day!

Anime Review: Dragonslayers, Necromansers, and Dark Guilds Oh My! Fairy Tail by Hiro Mashima

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope everyone has had a great week but now that its Friday the weekend is upon us. With the weekend pretty much here it’s time for a little relaxation. Also because it’s Friday it’s time for another fun Anime review! This week I’m reviewing:

Summary: In the land of Fiore, magic is everywhere. Sorcerers are like skilled tradesmen who band together in “guilds” and take on paying assignments for non-magic wielders, like hunting monsters, retrieving lost items or running odd errands.

Lucy is an aspiring wizard who wants to hook up with the coolest guild around, Fairy Tail. One day, she meets a red-headed boy who saves her from a unscrupulous wizard, and before she knows it, she’s introduced to the wild and wacky band of wizards of Fairy Tail and begins the adventure of a lifetime.

My review: 9⭐’s/10

Fairy Tail is an amazing anime/manga series that has great characters, complicated story ARC’s, and action packed battle scenes. While this is a Shonen anime (for young boys) any gender can watch this show. With the magic, fighting, and feel worthy characters, this is a great anime for the whole family.

So one of the reason I rated Fairy Tail so high was because of the anime’s close proximity to the manga. Many of the same battle scenes and storylines occurred in the anime and the manga. The characters look and personalities were also transferred from the manga to the anime very well. There were of course slight differences in something’s but are for the most part very minor. There was also 3 filler Arc’s in the anime that weren’t in the manga but I think it gave a deeper look into the characters so it worked out well.

My favorite parts of this anime had to be the characters and plot twists. Just when you thought you knew what was going to happen wham! You get hit with another curveball. The characters are really interesting and have alot of different layers to them. All the backgrounds connect simultaneously and come across as fate. Every member of Fairy Tail is in that guild because of destiny, even if they had no idea.

Another reason I love this anime is because of all the fight scenes and different examples of magic. It seems like the combinations of magic or new introductions of magic are never ending and could even overwhelm the audience if they’re not paying attention.

My only negative comment for this anime series is the censorship. When I watch a battlescene and see characters scratched up and injured I expect to see alot of blood, and unfortunately you don’t get alot of it in Fairy Tail.

So this is definitely an anime series I would recommend to anyone who likes Dragon Ball series, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and D. Gray-man. If you enjoyed this review come back again and take a look at some of my other post have a great weekend see you sgain on Monday!

Friday Book Beginnings: A Chosen Life by K.A. Parkinson

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope you all have been having a good week but with ut winding down and the weekend almost here I think it’s time to let your hair down and just relax. So because today is Friday it’s time for another fun book beginnings brought to you by The Rose City Reader. This week my Book Beginnings is:

A Chosen Life

“If I’m right, and this is another night of useless reconnaissance, we’re getting real cheeseburgers tomorrow for dinner. Not squirrel meat on the crunchy crap you call a bun that you think passes for a cheeseburger.” Macy paused in the middle of strapping her weapons belt around her waist to look at Bastian—her guardian and mentor—in the eye. “I cannot believe you would drive one hundred miles for a slice of meat on bread. I do not see the point.” Bastian leaned out the window of the parked ’62 Ford to hand her a canteen. She attached the canteen to the bottom of her small backpack and shook her head. “You’re over a thousand years old and yet you still haven’t learned to appreciate the genius behind a juicy cheeseburger.” Bastian sighed. “Some things are completely unnecessary.” She grinned as he tossed a pair of binoculars at her head, much harder than you would expect such an ancient-looking man to be able to. She caught them one handed and bit her lip to hold back a laugh. Bastian ran a gnarled hand over his thick white beard. “Either way, you must succeed tonight and your chances do not look good.” His strange sapphire-blue eyes, that on first glance would appear almost-human if it weren’t for the color, were dilating and shifting, the black pupil growing and shrinking with each turn in his thoughts. He was watching. “Hey, that’s cheating! No looking ahead. You’re not my Watcher right now, remember? You’re supposed to be just some crazy old guy out for a drive in the middle of the Nevada desert.” Bastian shot her a glare for the sarcastic tone and she bit her lip. He wasn’t in the mood to joke. She met his eyes, recognized the look, and turned her attention to her pack.

So it seems like this girl Macy and her Watcher are on some kind of dire stake out mission. Bastian seems to be an elderly gentleman but of course Macy might just be exaggerating about his age. They seem to be really close almost like a Buffy and Giles relationship in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Macy seems like she’s nervous about the mission yet skeptic it’s as bad as Bastian is making it seem. It could be cockiness that makes her look at it like it’s no big deal but I’m almost positive it’s experience. It also seems like Bastian and Macy have fun joking around with each other except on or before some sort of mission. And I have to agree with Macy cheeseburgers are delicious!

Thats all for this book beginnings I hope everyone enjoyed it, have a great weekend I’ll see you Monday!

TBR Thursday: Lost House of Night Otherworld novel book 2 by P.C. and Kristin Cast

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? So today is Thursday and one step closer to the weekend and some nice relaxation time. And because it’s Thursday it’s time for a To Be Read Thursday brought to you by Kimberly Faye Reads. So this book hasn’t come out yet but I’m super excited for it to cone out as this is one of my favorite book series.

Lost

Summary: The moment Other Kevin returns to his world trouble begins. Thankfully, he finds friends and allies—some expected, some unexpected—and soon discovers he, like his sister, can wield Old Magick. But without a mentor to help him, will Kevin be tempted to embrace Darkness?

Back in our Tulsa, things have settled down since Zoey and the gang closed the tear between worlds. A new school year has begun, and Zoey’s exchange student program with public schools is really taking off. All is well.

But if all is well, why is Zoey increasingly withdrawn and moody?

Stark thinks he knows what’s wrong—and he is determined not to lose Zoey to the Other World and Heath, who is there and very much alive. Stevie Rae thinks she knows what’s wrong—Z just needs a break. Maybe a little vacay? And the rest of the Nerd Herd thinks their Z will be fine—just give her some time to stop missing (and worrying about) Other Kevin.

But Zoey knows the truth. In the Other World her brother is using Old Magick, unaware of the dangers it holds. Without guidance, what will stop him from giving in to the potent pull of Old Magick? Without her guidance, Other Kevin could lose more than the war against Neferet—he could lose his soul. And Z knows she must help him—after all, he is her little brother …

In Lost, we follow Zoey, Stevie Rae, and Rephaim to an alternative version of the House of Night, where dangers take the form of friends, and allies are found in the strangest places.

So what do you guys think are you excited for the release of Lost? Let me know in the comments below, I’m bookishnerdygirl and that ends this blog post. I hope you come back again to check out more of my content and I hope you all have a great day!

Throwback Thursday: Hunted House of Night book 5 by P.C. and Kristin Cast

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? It’s another terrific Thursday bringing us one step closer to the weekends. It’s been quite hot here in New England the past day or so, and while I’m glad it’s warmer and the sun is shining it’s a bit too hot and the humidity is coming in. Thankfully I have air conditioning but it’s a pain in the butt with my asthma. Anyways onto the blog it’s Thursday and it’s time for a Throwback Thursday brought to you by Renee at it’s booktalk. This week my Throwback is:

Hunted

Summary: What if the hottest guy in the world was hiding a nameless evil, and all he wanted was you? At the start of this heart-pounding new installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey’s friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fledglings aren’t Neferet’s secrets any longer. But an unexpected danger has emerged. Neferet guards her powerful new consort, Kalona, and no one at the House of Night seems to understand the threat he poses. Kalona looks gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life shows Zoey secrets she doesn’t want to hear and truths she can’t face?

So I loved the House of night books. I like them because they’re a new way to introduce vampires that has yet to be done. One if the best things I think they could’ve done was make it so the vampires in this world study and practice Wicca. I think Wicca is a fresh new and very interesting way to add something to the vampire lore. We’ve seen the romantic vampires and the evil ones so why not show some more vampires with a nice modern twist. Instead of them being monsters they are very human and yeah they drink blood but they eat and act like human beings. They even fit moviestars into the vampire image.

Well thats it for this blog post everyone I hope you enjoyed it. I post constantly so please stop by again, and have a great day!

Family and Mortality

Days turn to months and months to years and as I grow older so do you

Now into adulthood realizations spark the embers in my mind that one day not so deep into the future you’ll be gone to

Nothing seems to stay and as much as I try to push these thoughts away I am powerless to stop your mortality as well as my own

I can feel the tears pour down my cheeks and picture the sad day I will have to live without you

The tears warm on my skin should be blocks of ice as I feel the cold within shrinking my heart until I’m numb thinking what can I do?

I wish that you could stay and live with me until the day I die but nothing is worse for a parent then being alive as there child dies

I wipe away the tears trying to hide the sorrow squeezing my soul as she comes barreling in holding me as I sob I drink in everything she does even to her smell

I pray I never forget the simplest things as I stare into her face my heart aches knowing she will wither away

So I say this to all who will read this cherish every moment no matter how big or small with the ones who know it all

The one’s who know your smallest quirks for one day they’ll be gone and you’ll have nothing left but the memories of their faces

You can try to stand tall but as time drags on the one person you’ll wish to see is the welcoming faces of family

And once again I’ll jump into her arms crying as all I can sob is Mom

Women Crush Wednesday: Ava from ISAN by Mary Ting

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope you’ve all been having a great week, today is Wednesday which means the weekend is almost here. It also means its time for another awesome and fun Women Crush Wednesday! So this week I decided that my woman Crush was:

Ava

Ava is an awesome and strong female character. In a dystopian world where she has no choice but to join the International Sensory Assassins Network or rot away in Juvy after running from cruel foster parents, she must constantly question if this is what she truly wants. She really doesn’t want to be an assassin even if she’s very skilled at getting her job done and is an even better leader. She knows with little choice she has to suck it up and make due with what she has or her actions could jeopardize her teammates and only real friends. And with her getting strange messages from an unknown person Ava’s life is turned upside down when she gets the answers to the questions she’s always asked herself. She is a strong character and even with the loss of one of the most personal things a person can own she will still fight against the people who have betrayed her. She is intelligent, strong, fast, deadly, compassionate, and determined. That is why I nominated her as my Women Crush this Wednesday.

I hope you all enjoyed this Women Crush Wednesday I post one every Wednesday so come back anytime and check it out. See you next time everyone and have a great day

Dragon Ball Super Movie Plot Details!

Hey guys how is everyone doing today? I hope everyone is having a great week so far. So I was looking on the internet and got my hands on some great new Dragon Ball Super news.

So according to KoreaPortal and comicbook one exciting detail that was revealed is that the Dragon Ball Super movie will be introducing at least one brand new planet, as reported by Blasting News. This was revealed when Toriyama released 20 sheets of designs which include the new planet as well as designs from some of the film’s characters and machines. With this detail in mind, fans can expect Goku to go on exciting adventures touring exotic lands and meeting new friends as well as new enemies.

So it appears Toriyama had a good amount of time invested in this movie. He stepped back a bit compared to his other movies but I like where this new story is going and the animation style.

Toriyama provided the film’s story, 20 sheets of character and machine designs and “at least” one new planet. Conversation with the creator was done mostly by email, with in-person meet-ups every two months or so. The staff proposed ideas for a movie last Spring, which Toryama initially rejected but got him to provide a new story in May 2017.

Toei Animation is now working with Toriyama’s story, which he worried was too short but further adjustments made it too long. He then personally selected animator Naohiro Shintani for the character designer as he wanted someone who could draw Goku in a particular way.

He made sure that whoever would design the characters would understand how to perfectly balance a body under martial arts uniform. Fans should take note of how involved Toriyama is, and that’s certainly exciting for the future of the franchise.

According to Dragon Room chief Akio Iyoku, the DBS movie will have a “multilayered” story with parts set in both the past and present, and multiple settings. Toriyama’s provided the story and over 20 sheets of designs, including characters, machines, and at least one new planet.

So for now we know this movie will take place in the future and the past. Hopefully we’ll get some info on the Saiyans history and the beef Freiza’s people has with the Saiyans.

ISAN Mary Ting Blog Tour Q&A

Hey guys so I got the amazing opportunity of getting my first ever interview with an author! The author of ISAN the awesome Mary Ting gave me the opportunity to ask some questions about her newest action packed dystopian romance ISAN; as well as a look into her writing process. Here’s what she had to say:

Hi Mary it’s awesome to get a chance to talk with you. So cutting right to the chase what ideas inspired you to write Isan?

I love to imagine what the world would be like in the future. I wish I could live in a time where there are flying cars. For that reason, I created a world I thought our future might look like. I also used to teach Kindergarten, something you might not know about me. I’d taught for almost 20 years. Anyway, I had taught sensory for science. A thought occurred that drove me to write ISAN. Wouldn’t it be cool if what destroyed us also gave us a gift. What if the meteor gave us the power of supernatural powers? And that is how ISAN began.

How does your writing process work?

I don’t outline like most authors. I have my main characters, a setting, and I idea for beginning, and then I start writing. I have a general idea for what will happen next, but I just let the story unfold. I also engage what my middle point should be and lead my characters to that point. So, for example, if I need my characters to be in the mountain by the middle of the book, I think about what I want the characters to experience or do before they get there.

Did you always want to be an author or did you have another career in mind?

I never wanted to be an author. I didn’t fall in love with books until I became a teacher. I’d taught kindergarten for almost 20 years until my passion shifted to writing. I started writing after my grandmother passed away. I based my story, Crossroads, from dreams and events from my high school. I can’t believe I’ve written 30 books within the past six years.

What are some of your favorite authors?

I have many, but first I have to thank Stephenie Meyers. She got me back into reading. Also, I love fantasy books. Currently I’m listening to an audio book by Sarah J. Maas.

For any upcoming authors like myself what is some advice you would give on getting a book published?

Make sure your book is in tip top shape. Be prepare for rejections. Don’t give up.

Thats all for this author interview and don’t forget to check out ISAN a brilliant new dystopian filled with twists and turns and a mysterious and steamy romance that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Thats all for this blog post everyone I hope you have a great day!

Book Review: Red Queen meets The Hunger Games in ISAN by Mary Ting

Hey everyone how’s it going? I hope everyone has had a great day so far. So today is Tuesday May 1st and it’s time for another fun book review. I know I usually post my book reviews on Monday but I wanted to post this review the day the book came out. So the book I’m reviewing is:

ISAN

Summary: Meteors devastated the Earth. World Governments developed plans to help surviving citizens. The United States disbanded and salvageable land was divided into our quadrants—North, South, East, and West—governed by The Remnant Council.

Struggling to survive, seventeen-year-old Ava ends up in juvenile detention, until she is selected for a new life—with a catch. She must be injected with an experimental serum. The results will be life changing. The serum will make her better. To receive the serum, Ava agrees to join a program controlled by ISAN, the International Sensory Assassin Network.

While on a mission, she is abducted by a rebel group led by Rhett and told that not only does she have a history with him, but her entire past is a lie perpetuated by ISAN to ensure her compliance. Unsure of who to trust, Ava must decide if her strangely familiar and handsome captor is her enemy or her savior—and time is running out.

My Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

So I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book, so I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. I’m still very new to the Dystopian genre so I think that also had something to do with keeping my expectations for this book low.

This book had everything I was hoping it would a creative new outlook on the Dystopian genre, a mysterious and steamy romance, characters with a loyalty to their team, and an action packed fast paced plot that gave a detailed look into this new world.

So one thing in this book that threw me for a loop was the direction Mary Ting went for with the world building. Many Dystopian books always start off with the main character in the worst circumstances in the poorest areas of the world. But this book was the exact opposite as we find our assassin Ava in the most technological and rich part of the world. But as many people know everything you get comes with a steep price and this is no different. And being on the inside put Ava in even more danger then living in the torn and poorest places in the world.

The next best thing was the mysterious messages Ava recieves and even risks breaking the rules to find out the truth behind her past. Not to mention the romance between her and a rebel leader she can’t even remember. And the deeper she digs the more danger she puts herself and her team into.

And the deeper the book went the better the training and the missions got. After the first training session with Ava and her team I was instantly hooked and couldn’t put the book down! And I couldn’t wait to dig deeper and get the answers I wanted to find so badly. The plot instantly puts you as a member on Ava’s team and the plot explodes from their. But I must warn you their is a major cliffhanger left at the end of the book that will leave you reeling and begging for the next book.

All in all this book was amazing and definitely something you should read if you enjoy the Dystopian genre. It gives you The Hunger Games meets Red Queen vibes. Thats all for this review I hope you enjoyed, come by again to check out more of my content. I hope everyone has a great day!

Top 10 Tuesday: Books I’d Slay a Lion to Get Early

top-10-tuesday3645591781439474340.jpg

Hey guys I hope everyone is having a great day. It’s another great Tuesday and time for another Top ten Tuesday. This concept was created by The Broke and The Bookish but is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. So this week I chose books that I’d slay a Lion to get Early and they are:
Lost A House of Night Otherworld novel by P.C. and Kristin Cast

I absolutely love The House of Night series probably on my top 10 list for favorite book series. So if course I want to get my hands on the second installment!
Smoke and Iron by Rachel Caine

So I started reading the Great Library series last year and it’s definetly becoming a favorite series of mine. The cliffhanger from the last book is driving me crazy, like I have to know what happened to Jess and Scholar Wolfe!
Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

So after just recently finishing Tower of Dawn I’m so excited to see what’s going to happen next. I really hope Aelin kicks Maeve’s frigan ass!
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

So I absolutely loved The Grishaverse and one of my favorite characters is of course Nikolai Lantsov. He’s been through alot and it will be awesome to read a book all about him and his struggles since The Grisha Civil War
Reaper at The Gates by Sabaa Tahir

So I have yet to read the second book A Torch Against The Night yet, but I know from reviews that the books are getting so much better. I really enjoyed reading the first book and instantly considered it a new favorite.
The Darkest Legacy by Alexandra Bracken

So I still need to read the second and third book from this series but getting to read a book all about Zu and her journey is going to be awesome. She was my favorite character in the first book next to Liam, so I’m really happy to see that she’s going to get her own stand alone novel.

Well thats it for this top ten Tuesday I hope everyone enjoyed it. Swing by and check out my content anytime I hope you have a great day!
