Hey everyone how are you all doing today? Today is Wednesday which means you know it is time for another fun Women Crush Wednesday! With my Women Crush Wednesday’s I always pick a female character that is strong, has a well developed back story and characterization, and of course is a total badass. I’m obsessed with paranormal books as well as movies and tv shows which is why my nomination for Women Crush Wednesday is the badass herself: Rebekah Michaelson!
Ah, yes the amazing Rebekah Mikaelson who’s loyalty, love, and devotion to her family has almost gotten her killed many times. Rebekah is a powerful character because when we meet her she’s just a confused girl fumbling her way through the world. She listens to her brothers input for the most part and when she first appears in The Vampire Diaries seems to have no real desires or will of her own. She blindly trusts her brothers Elijah and Niklaus who use her and hurt her quite alot. Despite there treatment he loyalty knows no bounds her choice in men on the other hand was definitely a real problem for her.
Rebekah was desperate to run from her tyrannical and many times unfair older brother Niklaus. He believed he knew what was best for her as anytime she had a man she fell for he would either directly or indirectly have some way of them leaving her or he would kill them. Rebekah defintely did have an issue with falling for all the wrong guys and could be construde as desperate.
Rebekah if she is crossed can become very petty as we see in the Vampire Diaries with her on again off again nemesis Elena Gilbert. Rebekah was of course justified in some instances considering her relationship with Stefan technically didn’t end it was compulsed away. While many don’t like this side of Rebekah I can understand it and love the character growth she experiences from The Vampire Diaries into The Originals.
Let’s not forget that Rebekah is a total badass and isn’t afraid to rip your throat out if you cross her. As many from the Vampire Diaries and The Originals find out.
Again what makes Rebekah such a 3 dimensional character is her love and loyalty to her family as well as her pettyness and unforgiving attitude when she gets hurt emotionally. She is a character that feels everything and despite understanding she needs to do some horrible things to survive she doesn’t like hurting people if she views them as innocent.
Whether you love her or you hate her we can all agree on one thing Rebekah is a total badass with a heart that feels everything. She is raw, passionate, kind, and loyal if she views you deserve her trust. She has a strong conviction that knows no bounds and relates to many of the other charactersgoing through tough times who may feel alone.
